Matt is a full time non-executive Chair and Director who is a Fellow at Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
A Perth native Matt spent 11 years in Europe working in telecommunications M&A through the 90's. After returning to Perth he co-founded Web 2.0 startup Minti in 2004.
In 2009, Matt co-founded Yuuwa Capital LP, a A$40m Venture Capital fund and led the IT investments of the fund (incl. Agworld, icetana). The initial fund is now wound up and Yuuwa is undertaking new activities led by my co-founders - I have no ongoing involvement in Yuuwa.
Matt was the founding CEO of icetana.ai (ASX:ICE) - a global SaaS software company providing video analytics technology to identify abnormal behaviour and events for large-scale surveillance - and is the current Chair of the Board after leading the company to an IPO and rebuilding the team over a 5 year period to 2023.
He is a non-executive director at AgriFutures - an organisation that focuses on growing the long-term prosperity of Australian rural industries and he is Chair of PetRescue, national animal welfare charity with a vision of a future where every pet is safe, respected and loved
Matt has invested over $1m of his own cash into more than 25 Australian startups as an angel investor (some companies listed below). He is an active participant in the local startup community through roles as Company Chair, Non-executive director, advisor, competition judge, and mentor
Agworld was Yuuwa's largest exit when it was sold to Semios in 2021 for $100m.
Kanopy and Dimerix both generated over 4x return on angel stakes held
